What Is The Best Cardio Equipment To Burn The Most Calories?

Dear Justine: What kind of cardio equipment burns the most calories? Treadmills, bikes, or ellipticals?

Dear Crazy for Cardio,
On every type of cardio machine, the more you push yourself, the more calories you will burn! When you are on a treadmill, running burns the most calories. If you don’t like running or get bored with just doing one thing, try intervals! Walk for 2 minutes, run for 1 minute… walk for 2 minutes, run for 1 minute…. Repeat for 10-20 minutes (or more, but if you do intervals right, you should be tired!) You can also do intervals of 1 minute walking, 30 seconds running, and repeat. Intervals can be done on a bike or elliptical as well! Go at a moderate pace for one or two minutes, and then go as FAST as you can for 30 seconds or a minute! Intervals burns more calories than just walking on a treadmill at one pace or riding on a bike or elliptical at just one pace. So go ahead – give those intervals a try!
